Szent István University was founded in 2000. It hopes to quickly become an international center of academic excellence. The campus is spread out over an area of 1000 hectres. The university offers diplomas in over fourty majors and PhD's in ten fields. Over 24,000 students are taught by over a thousand teachers here.
The School of Veterinary Medicine itself was founded in 1787 and is one of the oldest veterinary schools in the world. In 2000, it was incorporated into the Szent István University. The school is internationally-recognized both for its strong education programs and its contribution to research. More than 300 foreign students stufy here. The degree granted by the University is recognized across Europe and so graduates have direct access to a substantial job market.
